Rosemary Gibson-Carter Artist Statement: Many of my paintings are inspired by the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge in Wakulla County, south of Tallahassee. I am moved by the natural beauty of the coastal marshes, feeling compelled to try and capture its changing mood and light. I delight in the regeneration- the constant changes nature creates in the landscape. I visit the site I plan to paint on numerous occasions and times of the day. I rely on photographs for physical information, but, it's my reaction to color and aerial perspective that most influences my work. Notable Works Include: "Spark of Light" and "Before the Rain" from the collection of Debbie Geiger and George Percy of Tallahassee, Fl. These works are part of the book and traveling Exhibit "Coast to Coast": The Contemporary Landscape in Florida" which looks at the work of 50 accomplished artists from 1930 to 1997. She does commission painting. For more information please contact the artist at: jrcarter3@msn.com |
