| Ivy Monsees I’m originally from Long Island, NY and moved to Lakeland in 1984 at which time I started painting in oils, taking classes with California artist Areta Scharper and Lakeland artist Mary Conn. I have since expanded to include acrylics and watercolors. For several years I have been teaching classes for residents where I live and at Imperial Art Gallery which has now merged with j. rowan galleries inc.. I have been a member of My Gallery in Winter Haven for many years and started doing butterflies when the gallery was associated with Cypress Gardens. I have been award the Judges Award ribbon at Bloomin Arts Show, Award of Excellence at Wings and Strings show, Award of Merit at the Jacaranda Fine Arts Festival, and an award at Arts on the Park for my work, “WOW”. I have also been selected to show work at the Peggy Brown Building in 2006 and in 2008. My work has been accepted in jurried shows with LAG, AOP, Ridge Art, Maitland, Brandon, Crystal River, Universal, Orlando and I am represented in England. . She does commission painting.
