| Hello Fellow Artists, I have begun to teach the spontaneous method of Chinese Brush Painting. The attached flyer outlines the next 3 weeks subject matter. As I am teaching out of my home, space is limited and I can only accept 4 more students per class. Since each week is a different subject, you can pick and choose the ones that delight your soul. For the month of July students may pick from a variety of subjects what they would like to do next - crane, fish, horse, panda, a variety of flowers, one stroke dragon and much more. Periodically I will repeat the basics of the Four Gentlemen, which is the ground work in learning the calligraphic style strokes needed to become an accomplished brush painter. The Four Gentlemen are Bamboo, Chinese Orchid, Chrysanthemum and Plum Blossom. You will learn how to prepare hold and load your brush Chinese Style. The tonality of ink and the controlling moisture in the brush. The variety of strokes needed to master from bone, dot, hook, and more. As we go along I will impart information on these other values listed below: The culturally sanctioned values in Chinese Art vs. Western Art values. The meaning of each subject in the Chinese culture and why they are placed together. The relationship between Poetry and Painting Chinese theory and practice with colors The symbolism of colors and their association with the Elements The importance of INK The Four Treasures The Six Cannons of Chinese Brush Painting The importance of Chinese Calligraphy The Art Form of the Seals Mounting Chinese Paintings - a class in itself when your masterpieces are ready. Supplies will be provided for your first class, a beginners starter kit may be ordered if you want to continue to explore this ancient art form. I will have some limited supplies on hand for sale also. |
