Imperial Art Gallery was founded in early 1989 as the only artist cooperative
in Polk County, Florida. A small gallery was opened for the purpose of giving
local artists and their works better visibility. As an artist owned and operated
art gallery, it provided a needed venue for area artists to display and sell their
art locally.
Opening their doors for business in Lakeland’s Antiques District, the gallery
quickly prospered and gained a reputation for featuring ORIGINAL
ARTWORK by professional award winning artists. After several moves within
the parameters of the Antiques District, the gallery moved to the bustling
downtown location on South Kentucky Avenue. Imperial Art Gallery published
it's first website in 2005 and in February 2008 became Lakeland Florida's first
co-operative on line gallery.
The gallery displays original works of art in varied media, including traditional,
abstract, mixed media, collage and oil on porcelain. The artist group, currently
featuring 10 members and expects to grow rapidly as more of the past
members are contacted. The gallery will also feature giclees and reproductions
of the artists own work, plus original hand-painted note cards, small framed
works and gift items.
